The following teachers were recognized this month for demonstrating the strengths of humor, fairness, and love of learning.
The student body voted, and it turns out it must be in the Social Studies Teacher Starter Pack to be absolutely hilarious. One student even wrote, and I quote, “They both have me peeing my pants from laughing!” Shout out to the two legends of laughter—Mr. Metzler and Mr. Kvidera.
Next, when we asked students who demonstrates the strength of love of learning best, the answer was overwhelming. Mrs. Tracy has a passion for English, a passion for learning, and a passion for sharing it with her students.
Finally, it made sense that the PE teacher, Mr. McCreary who has to enforce rules within games and competitions to keep things fair and fun, was selected for always showing fairness. #strengthfocused #staffspotlight

Congratulations to Jacob Birkley for shooting a 82 and placing 9th today in the Hartington Golf Invite.

On the evening of Monday, May 28th, the seniors came together for one of the last times- the senior cookout. Everyone brought plenty of food to share. Mikkie and Adrian were the grill masters. Embarrassing stories, best memories, and good times were shared. The weather was bad, but that didn't dampen the seniors' fun, they stayed inside the school and played "Sardines" which is essentially reverse hide and seek. The laughter, the chaos, the hiding spots (seriously, how did Timothy fit behind those mats?!) made the night unforgettable. Seniors, you’re the best mix of heart and hilarity, and we’re going to miss you. Just a day and a half left—finish strong!

Jazmin is our valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA. KCAU 9 is proud to celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of Best of the Class. To commemorate the 42nd Anniversary, Best of the Class will be on April 24th at The Orpheum Theatre in Sioux City. Jazmin will appear in a short clip that will be aired over the network representing Wakefield Community Schools. Jazmin plans to attend Wayne State College. She earned the Rural Health Opportunities Program Scholarship to study Pre-Medicine. She will go on to UNMC to finish her doctorate.

Less than one month of school left.... but who's counting?

We are excited to share that senior Alexia Ramirez has also been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Susan T. Buffett Scholarship! Alexia will be heading to Wayne State College this fall, where she will pursue her passion for Criminal Justice. Her commitment, perseverance, and focus have brought her this well-deserved award, and we couldn’t be more proud of her success! Please join us in celebrating Alexia and wishing her the best as she embarks on this exciting new chapter.
